The Cliffs of Moher and a pretty town called Adare

Another rainy day on the Emerald Isle...any wonder it’s so green! Vivid full rainbows are a common feature here as well in the sunny breaks after the rain. There must be many pots of gold left by the leprechauns! The scenic coastal drives along the west coast of Ireland are very picturesque but they take a long time to get from A to B. Most of them are one lane only bounded by hedges or dry rock walls so passing is very difficult. As a consequence, it has taken longer than we realised to navigate the coastline of Ireland and our time is running out. So today we drove straight to the Cliffs of Moher from Galway. The cliffs are massive with flat tops so it is a sheer drop down to the ocean. As with all other major attractions along the coastline, there is a fee for parking but it is allocated per person rather than by car. The view from the lookout was spectacular not only for the cliffs but to zgalway and its peninsula.

After realising the time and distance required to get to the Dingle peninsula or the Ring of Kerry, we made a beeline to Cork where we had B&B accommodation. On the way there we discovered a rather pretty little town not far from Limerick called Adare. Apparently the Earls of Dunraven styled the village with thatched cottages so it has an English look to it.
